Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Marabou mobile application and website (the "Service"), how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
- Account information — when you sign up with your Google account we receive your name and email address. You then provide profile details: photos, birth date, gender, what you're looking for, and optional details such as job, school, bio, lifestyle answers, and languages.
- Location — with your permission, your approximate location is used to show you people nearby and accurate distances. You can limit your search distance in the app.
- Content you create — messages, photos you send in chats, likes, and reports. Chat photos marked as timed are deleted from view after they are seen.
- Purchase information — subscriptions and in-app purchases are processed by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We never see or store your card details.
- Device and usage data — device identifiers, app version, crash logs, and how you use features, collected through Firebase services.
How we use information
- To operate the Service: showing profiles, making matches, delivering messages and notifications.
- To keep the community safe: reviewing reports, blocking, photo verification, and preventing abuse.
- To improve the app and fix problems.
- To show advertising to free members (see below).
Advertising
Free accounts see ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may use your advertising ID to show ads; where required, you will be asked for consent before personalized ads are shown, and you can choose non-personalized ads. VIP Plus members do not see ads.
Third-party services
The Service is built on the following processors, each governed by its own privacy policy:
- Google Play Services & Google Sign-In
- Google Firebase (authentication, database, storage, push notifications, analytics)
- Google AdMob (advertising)
Sharing
Your profile information (photos, name, age, distance, and profile details) is visible to other members as part of how a dating app works. We do not sell your personal information. We share data with the processors above only to run the Service, and we may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our members.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account in the app. This removes your profile and associated data from our systems.
- Location can be disabled in your device settings (nearby features will stop working).
- Ad personalization can be controlled through your device's ad settings and the consent prompt.
- Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Contact us to exercise them.
Data retention and security
We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, profile data is removed; limited records (such as abuse reports) may be retained where the law allows, to keep the community safe. Data is stored on Google Firebase infrastructure with industry-standard protections and access rules.
Children
Marabou is strictly for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18; accounts found to belong to minors are removed.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with an updated date.
